Meditation Group Monday 6 pm at St George’s

At the Meditation group we practise an ancient form of silent prayer, the aim of which is to lose ourselves in the presence of God, to become one with Him.  We learn, by the routine practice of attentive silence, the necessary emptying of self.  ‘The important aim in Christian meditation is to allow God’s mysterious and silent presence within us to become more and more not only a reality, but the reality which gives meaning, shape and purpose to everything we do, everything we are’ (John Main).  We meet every Monday at St George’s at 6.00pm for about 40 minutes. All are welcome.  For more information contact office@hollandparkbenefice.org

Easter 6

Walking through cities, towns or gardens in the heat of the day, fountains have the power to cool, soothe and heal.  Indeed, one might say that there is nothing more alive than a fountain spouting water; and nothing more dead than one whose water has ceased to flow.

Water is consistently used throughout the old and new testaments as a metaphor for God’s inexhaustible and profligate love for us.  We can skirt around it, dip our fingers, or dive straight in.  The invitation is there for us – it only needs us to respond.
